LURA THOMPSON 95 passed peacefully February 22 nd at Touchmark Assisted Living facility in Meridian, Idaho.  She is survived by three sons; Doug (Kathy) Newcomb, Pocatello, Idaho; Richard (Toni) Newcomb, Washington, Utah; and Mark (Dang) Newcomb, Boise, Idaho, three grandchildren; Kurt Newcomb, Boise, Kelsey Newcomb, Saarbruken Germany, Alec Newcomb, Pocatello, Idaho and one brother, Frank Rosenstock, Phoenix, Arizona.

LURA was born in 1925 on a homestead near Eagle Butte, South Dakota where she lived until 1936.  The dust bowl forced the family of five to sell everything that could not be loaded into their Model A and drive to Monmouth, Oregon.

She married Jim Newcomb in 1944.  In 1956 the family moved to North Dakota, in 1962 to Twin Falls, Idaho and in 1970 to Boise.  Jim died in 1985 and Lura then married Vic Thompson.  Lura and Vic shared their love of golf as members of Hillcrest Country Club.  Following Vic’s death Lura remained an active member of Hillcrest until 2020.

Our heartfelt thanks to the staff at Touchmark Assisted Living and Keystone Hospice for their professional and caring support of Lura in her limited mobility elder years during the Covid pandemic when family had limited access.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Luras’ favorite charitable organization, the Idaho Youth Ranch ( https://www.youthranch.org ).  The family plans to gather later this spring for a celebration of life.
