Meridian

Loretta Shirley Williams, age 84, passed away peacefully, Saturday, August 16, 2025.

A long-life resident of Ada County, Loretta, daughter of Dr. Walter Cameron and Lucile McCallum-Cameron of Boise, Idaho, was born September 29th, in Safford, Arizona. She graduated from Nampa High School and attended the College of Idaho. Loretta graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Teaching. Loretta married her husband, Frank on May 4th, 1974. They were married almost 50 years.

Loretta was well known for her loyalty, and unwavering love for her family. She was gentle, kind, caring, and generous to a fault. She made a deeply loving impression on those who knew and loved her. She will be greatly missed.

Loretta was selfless and maternal, always prioritizing others before her own needs. She loved helping people, enjoyed conversation, was engaging, and was so much more. She had a heart for human services and made a career of it. Having served the State of Idaho and local community over 30 years, she retired as a Supervisor for the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare earlier than anticipated as she recognized she would need to provide her full attention to the care of her aging parents.

Loretta was well known for her sense of humor, infectious laughter, and creative play-on-words. She was a great cook and gardener. She shared her love of the great Idaho wildlife, beautiful mountains, lakes, and rivers. She spent time hunting and camping with her husband, family, and friends. She enjoyed horseback riding, snowmobiling, ice fishing, and boating. She loved her dogs and took them everywhere with her. She spent a good amount of time traveling the United States and Canada during her retirement years. The impact she made by sharing her life has ensured her loving footprint will be mirrored for generations to come.

Loretta was preceded in death by her husband Frank C. Williams, her parents Dr. Walter Cameron and Lucile McCallum-Cameron. She is survived by a sister; nieces, nephew, great-nieces and great-nephews, great-great nephews, great-great niece, and several cousins.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Cottages of Meridian and Idaho Home Health & Hospice, including nurses and nurse's aides, for the love, care, and support they showed to Loretta and her family.

A committal service will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, September 19, 2025 at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, 10100 Horseshoe Bend Rd., Boise, Idaho.
