Our mother, Lillian Yvonne Frochaux Gourley, age 90, died in her home in Meridian, Idaho, surrounded by her family on Thursday, May 11, 2023. She was born on November 29, 1932 in Brawley, California. She graduated from Brawley High School in 1950.
She was an active member of the Swiss Club of Imperial Valley and enjoyed going to many of the events. Lillian served her Catholic Church as a volunteer in the Catholic Education office for many years at both Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Lakeside, CA and Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church in Holtville, CA. She spent her days creating colorful quilts for her family, completing jigsaw and word puzzles, and if you knew her well, you know she loved her Farmtown game on Facebook.
Lillian is survived by daughter Lynnda Bentley (Greg), son David Gourley, daughter Sandy Nokes (Mike) and daughter Heidi Manley (Justin). Grandchildren: Erica Love (Brock), Dalton (Justine) and Delanie Gourley, Jennifer Keefer (Ryan) and Savannah Nokes, Ryan and Adam Manley, and three great grandchildren, Gillian and Sydney Love, and Bodie Keefer. She is survived by one sister, Suzanne Rubidoux of Agoura Hills, CA. and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Gilbert R. Gourley in 2014 and her son Matthew Gourley in 2007. Her sisters Janine Ramsay and Bernadette Cooke also preceded her in death.
A memorial mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Friday, July 21, 2023 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Lakeside, CA. As we are celebrating her long and full life, please feel free to wear the many colors she loved to use in her handmade quilts.
