Lillian Loretta Nelson was born on April 26, 1944, in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. Her parents are Catherine Virginia Allen and Robert Lee Sawyers. Lillian had two brothers and eight sisters.
Melvin and Lillian met in West Virginia. They fell in love and were married on May 16, 1963, in the Idaho Falls Temple. Together, they had two children: a son, Paul Spencer Nelson, and a daughter, Bonnie Jean Schuppel. Melvin and Lillian were married for 62 years.
During Melvin’s time of service, they traveled together to places like Guam and Holland. After his time in the Air Force, Melvin and Lillian settled in Boise, Idaho, and moved into a lovely home.
Lillian was an amazing homemaker and an outstanding military wife. She loved and cared for everyone. She was active in her community and did temple work whenever she could. Lillian had a strong testimony of the gospel.
Lillian passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2025. She was 81 years old. Lillian will be remembered forever as a loving wife, an amazing sister, a caring grandmother, and a devoted mother.
Lillian is survived by her husband, Melvin; her son and his wife; her daughter and her husband; and her grandchildren.
