Liane Allen Pierce

March 18, 1945 — May 23, 2025

Meridian

Liane Allen Pierce passed away peacefully at her home in Meridian, Idaho on May 23, 2025, at the age of 80. The youngest child of Andrew and Marjorie Allen was born on March 18, 1945, in Los Angeles and grew up in Fair Oaks, California.

Liane devoted many years to raising her family. She married Nick Poplawski in 1963 and had three children: Chad, Shelly (Tingey), and Ryan. The marriage of 16 years ended in divorce, after which she married Hal Pierce and had one son, Brett.

She lived a life full of faith, service, and love for those around her. She began her career as a beautician delighting in helping others feel their best through her talent for cutting and coloring hair, Later, after raising her children, she worked as an elementary school secretary in both the Kent, Washington and Meridian, Idaho school districts-roles that perfectly suited her warm, welcoming nature and love for others.

A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Liane served in many capacities throughout her life. Together with Hal, she fulfilled a mission in Fukuoka, Japan. After Hal's passing, she continued her service as a Boise Idaho Temple ordinance worker for many years and later completed missions at the Boise Family History Center and on the Boise State University campus with her husband Ron Smart, whom she married in January 2023.

Liane loved to be outdoors in the sunshine. She found joy in gardening, boating, walking on the beach, and spending time with her beloved dogs, Roxie and Steinway. She had a passion for decorating, fashion and making her home a beautiful and welcoming place. She especially cherished playing SkipBo and other card games with her grandchildren, who were among her greatest joys. Her love of horses spanned her lifetime from her teens through adulthood, bringing her peace and happiness.

Liane was preceded in death by her husband of over three decades, Hal Pierce, and is survived by her loving husband Ron Smart; her children Chad Poplawski, Shelly Tingey, Ryan Poplawski, and Brett Pierce; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to Roxie and Steinway over the years, Liane was a loving companion to her dogs Toy, Shannon and Ruby.

Her family and friends will remember her for her vibrant spirit, compassionate heart, strong testimony, and unwavering devotion to those she loved.
