Leon Charles Bozer

Leon Charles Bozer, 84, of Boise passed away at Lifecare Center of Treasure Valley on May 26 after a long illness.

Leon was born on December 6, 1938, to Bruce and Evelyn Bozer in Mount Pleasant, Michigan.  He was the oldest of four.  He grew up in Midland, Michigan along with his sisters Linda, Kathy, and Jean and his younger brother, Bill.  He graduated from Midland Senior High school in June of 1957.  He joined the Air Force in May of 1958.  He was stationed in Japan.  He was honorably discharged in September of 1960.

After his military service, he attended DeVry Technical Institute in Chicago, Illinois.  He graduated from there with an Associate of Applied Science degree in 1963.  He then went to work for Lockheed Missiles and Space company which moved him to Sunnyvale, California.  It was there that he met his wife, Hyla.  Leon and Hyla were married in Reno, Nevada on July 17,1965.  Leon and Hyla welcomed two daughters, Corinne in 1967 and Amy in 1969.  They were married for 55 years until Hyla’s passing in 2020.

The family moved to Boise in 1977 when Leon was transferred as a supervisor for Hewlett Packard.  He retired from Hewlett Packard in 2003.

When he wasn’t working, Leon enjoyed snow skiing, water skiing, camping, hiking, fishing and spending time with his family.  He also loved to go out to dinner, especially for some baby back ribs.  He also loved his Boise State Broncos.  He was a member of the Prime Timers ski group as he skied until he was 80.

Leon was predeceased by his parents, his wife, Hyla, and his sister, Kathy.  He is survived by his daughter, Corinne (Shane) Smith of Boise, his daughter, Amy Bozer of Seattle, his sister, Linda (Larry) Burgess of Midland, Michigan, his brother, Bill (Shirley) Bozer of Midland, Michigan, his sister, Jean Bozer of Midland, Michigan and numerous nieces and nephews.

At his request, no services will be held.

The family would like to thank the staff of Keystone Hospice and LifeCare Center of Treasure Valley for the excellent care they provided to Leon.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Idaho Humane Society or the Boise Rescue Mission.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bowman Funeral Parlor of Garden City.
