Vedna “Lee” Post
Vedna “Lee” Post, born on April 22, 1947, in Twin Falls, Idaho, passed away peacefully in her home on December 22, 2024, at the age of 77. She was the cherished daughter of Betty Lou Wilson Post and George Post.
Lee spent her formative years in Boise, Idaho, where she developed a love for learning and community. She graduated from Borah High School and went on to earn an associate degree from Boise College, now known as Boise State University.
Lee began her career in the geothermal energy field. She was a key member of the team that implemented the City of Boise/Federal project to run geothermal water into downtown Boise during the 70s and 80s.
Lee’s life was marked by her unwavering dedication to others, which led her to a second career in the funeral home industry. She spent more than twenty years working for A. Dale McMurtrey and Jim McGuire at Summers Funeral Home, providing comfort and guidance to so many. When her time at Summers abruptly ended, Lee reimagined her life once again. At the age of 60, she took the bold step of learning to drive and returned to government service, first at the U.S. Courts as a Jury Clerk and then at the State of Idaho Attorney General’s Office Consumer Protection Division, where she served as the primary contact for innumerable Idahoans seeking assistance.
Lee continued her calling by working at Bowman Funeral Parlor late in her career, where her colleagues noted her rare gift for making others feel heard, cared for, and respected.
Upon her passing, the Attorney General sent a letter to the entire AG’s office expressing gratitude for her dedicated service to the people of Idaho. The letter highlighted her empathetic nature, deep care for those around her, and unselfish willingness to help others without expecting anything in return.
Lee celebrated life with extraordinary flair, especially when it came to birthdays, holidays, and special events. Her cakes, cookies, bars, and other confections were legendary in the city of Boise. No party was complete without a Lee Post spread. Receiving one of her ten-pound German chocolate cakes on your birthday was a special honor.
Lee’s life was marked by her dedication to her family, along with her unwavering positivity and kindness. She had a special place in her heart for her dogs, who were well cared for—if not a little spoiled. Lee will be remembered for her warm smile, generous spirit, and ability to make everyone feel welcome.
Lee was dedicated to her faith and was a member and volunteer for many years at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
She is survived by her sister, Linda Bonner of San Jose CA; niece Julie Bonner of San Jose CA and daughters Eileen Watson and Clare Watson; nephew James Bonner and wife Michelle of Minneapolis, MN, and their children Joseph James Bonner and Aleksander Balazs; her cousins, Bill Post, Janet Davis, Kay Ernst, Donna “sista cousin” Moore and Linda Denny.
Lee is also survived by and leaves a legacy with a bevy of lifelong friends and nieces and nephews. This was a family she made and loved dearly, including her “boys” Dustin Tyner and Hein Muller; Barbara and Tom Bird; Patty and Jeff Tiddy; Summer Mershon and her son River; Juliet Markowitz; Henry Markowitz; Dr. Mariel Bird, her husband Al Zoldan, and their daughter Nettie; Megan and Ryan Lutz; Avery Jones and her husband Mitch Iffland; Julie Bird; Gena Fercho; Kim Fercho; Joshua White; and Jeff Tiddy, his wife Danielle, and their children Charley, Easton, Weslyn, and Greyson, who will always remember her as their beloved Aunt Lee.
Lee is preceded in death by her parents.
Special thanks to Summer Mershon, Teresa Taylor, Laurie Scott, Mike Crohn, Donna Moore, Sherry Richter, Connie Whitmarsh, Paula Morlan and Renee Chariton for their love and support to Lee this last year.
