LaRay (Vogt) Burgess passed away in Boise ID on Feb 12, 2025 at the age of 94. LaRay was born to parents Walter & Hannah Vogt, in Pocatello Idaho on Dec 30, 1930. LaRay and family later moved to Nephi UT; where LaRay and her incredible 4 sisters spent their childhood and school years. LaRay graduated from Nephi High School.
When LaRay was 20yrs old she met the love of her life Dean C Burgess. Dean and LaRay were married April 23, 1952 in Nephi UT. They had 3 children; Kent (Linda)Burgess, Karla Kunter, Richard Burgess. Dean and LaRay spent over 58 yrs together, LaRay being a wonderful homemaker and dedicated bridge player. Wherever Dean and LaRay lived, they had the best of neighbors and made incredible friendships.
LaRay moved back to Boise after Deans passing. She spent another decade playing bridge, well into her 90’s.
LaRay is survived by 2 of her 3 children, 7 grandchildren, 9great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by husband Dean in 2011 and son Richard in 2023.
LaRay will be interned at Idaho Veterans Cemetery with her husband Dean. The family would like to thank the staff at The Cottages and White Oak Hospice for the wonderful care they gave LaRay. Special thanks to Darla with White Oak Hospice for going above and beyond for mom.
