Kory John Peterson, 42, of Meridian, passed away peacefully at home on April 22, 2026, after a courageous fight against an aggressive form of cancer.
Born on September 1, 1983, in Idaho Falls, Kory spent his younger years between Idaho Falls and Boise, where he built the foundation for the life he would come to love—one centered on family, hard work, and making the most out of every moment.
Kory spent 17 years in the electrical union IBEW 291 before taking a leap of faith and starting Next Level Power with his wife and best friend, Nikki. The kids were involved from day 1 but are now 2nd and 3rd year apprentices. What a blessing it was to be able to work as a family for all these years. Together for 20 years, they built not only a business, but a life full of grit, laughter, and memories. Kory was known for his incredible work ethic, his ability to fix just about anything, and his habit of somehow always having the answer—even when his favorite phrase was, “I don’t know shit.” The truth is, Kory knew a little (or a lot) about just about everything.
His greatest accomplishment and deepest pride were his children, Eli and Mya. Nothing mattered more to Kory than being their dad. He poured himself into fatherhood—showing up, playing hard, teaching lessons, and building a life full of adventure and memories with his family. He was proud of the life he built, often saying it was a life he didn't need a vacation from.
Kory lived fully and kept life interesting. He loved remodeling, backcountry snowmobiling, dirt bike riding, skateboarding, and chasing whatever adventure sounded like a good idea at the time. If there was something to build, fix, ride, or explore, Kory was all in, if the weather was good.
He will be remembered for his humor, his stubbornness, his opinions and his dependability. He was the kind of man who would show up when you needed him, make you laugh when you least expected it. Kory was the best father and partner anyone could ask for—playful, present, and deeply devoted to his family. Over 20 years, he built a home and a family filled with love, laughter, and the kind of memories that last forever.
Kory is survived by his loving wife, Nikki; his children, Eli and Mya; his parents, Kelly and Sandi; his brothers, Jason and Dustin; many step-siblings and extended family; and countless friends who became family along the way.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Mark, whose influence helped shape the man Kory became.
A celebration of life will be held as an open house on May 8th from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at Bowman Funeral Parlor. Family and friends are invited to come share stories, laughter, and memories as we celebrate a man who left a mark on everyone lucky enough to know him.
Kory’s legacy lives on in the family he built, the work of his hands, the adventures he chased, and the love he gave so freely. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and remembered every time something needs fixing and everyone looks around wishing Kory was there.
