Kim N Cherry was born December 27, 1947 to goodly parents, Cecil Ally Cherry and Beth Neeley Cherry in Logan, Utah. His parents were living in Preston, ID at the time. He had an older sister, Sharlene, then three younger brothers, Ryan, Quinn and Brent, and then his younger sister, LaNae.
His family moved to a farm north of Caldwell when he was very young. They lived there for a time, then moved to Nampa and then to Meridian. Kim graduated from Meridian High in 1966. He served a mission in Brazil from 1967 to 1969 for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He married Kay Givens in November of 1969 and they proceeded to spend the next four years in Provo, Utah attending BYU. He graduated in the spring of 1973 and went to work for the engineering firm, Flour Corp in Anaheim, CA. In 1975, the company sent him to Valdez, AK to work on the Alaska Pipeline. He left the company in 1977 and returned to Idaho.
A son, Kevin, joined the family in 1973, a daughter, Nanette, in 1977 and another son, Brandon, in 1986.
Kim served in many callings in the church, probably his most favorite was as a Cub Master. His greatest self-appointed calling was to make sure new people were welcomed into his circle of friends.
He is survived by his wife, Kay, his two sons, Kevin and Brandon, grandchildren, Zoe Allred, Tracy Cherry, Isis Rupe and Trent Cherry in addition to many cousins, nieces and nephews. His parents, and grandparents, his sister, Sharlene and daughter, Nanette, preceded him in death.
A service will be held on April 5, 2024 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 484 S. Main Street, Star, Idaho. There will be a viewing at the church at 10 AM followed by the service at 11 AM. Additionally, there will be a viewing on Thursday April 4 th from 6 to 8 PM at Bowman Funeral Home, 10254 W. Carlton Bay Dr, Garden City, Idaho.
