Kenneth Charles Remelius, affectionately known as Ken, passed away on March 27, 2026, at the age of 94. He was born on January 4, 1932, in St. Louis, Missouri to Milas and Beulah Remelius.
Ken lived a full life rooted in faith, service, hard work, and family. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, spending two years in Korea during the Korean War and continuing his service for eleven years in the Army Reserves. He remained deeply proud of his military service and his love for his country throughout his life.
A dedicated provider, Ken built his career through determination and perseverance. He began by working a milk route and selling real estate before becoming a successful manufacturer’s representative and eventually owning his own business. His strong work ethic, integrity, and personable nature helped him build lasting relationships throughout his career.
Ken was a man of many passions. He was an avid fisherman, bowled on leagues with family and friends, enjoyed time on the golf course, and had a lifelong love of sports. He coached many of his children’s teams, including basketball, baseball and softball and cherished the time spent teaching and cheering on young athletes. A proud fan of Missouri sports, Ken loved Mizzou athletics and, after moving to Springfield, developed a strong appreciation for Missouri State teams as well.
Ken’s Catholic faith was central to his life. He was a Fourth Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus. His commitment to service continued through his membership in the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).
Above all, Ken loved his family. He is survived by his daughters Patricia Remelius and Barbara (John) Buhmann; his daughter-in-laws Mindy Stallman, Lu Werner, Michelle Davis, and Glennda Remelius; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bernice Remelius; sons Stephen Remelius, Kenneth Remelius, Thomas Remelius, and Edward Remelius; granddaughter Isabella Vega; great grandson Miles Ray; his parents Milas and Beulah Remelius; and his sister Norma Leonard.
Ken will be remembered for his warmth, humor and generosity of spirit. He had a gift for making people smile, whether lifelong friends or strangers he met along the way. His legacy of faith, service, and love will live on in the many lives he touched.
