Our world will never be the same!
Gary was born at home in Oregon to Kenneth and Leta Forsdick on April 20,1938. He joined sisters Barbara, Phylis, Betty, and Vivan. Later Judy and Susan were born. His family moved 17 times, but Gary, with his sharp sense of humor and deep caring for others, made new friends wherever he went. One of the places he loved was Payette, and so, when given the opportunity to live in Payette, he jumped at the chance. He met the love of his life, Shawna Shurtleff, while attending Payette High School. He graduated in 1956. He was hired by Idaho Power shortly after graduating. He and Shawna were married three years later in 1959. Gary and Shawna’s son, Craig was born in 1962 and their daughter, Sheri was born in 1965. The family moved from Payette to Boise in1975. Gary retired from Idaho Power in 1996; however, he took the opportunity to do some consulting work in Hawaii for 7 months.
Gary served in The Idaho Air National Guard, loved bowling, golfing, and became an avid runner. He participated in many of the local races here in the Treasure Valley over the years including participating in multiple running of the Sawtooth Relays as well as joining his son, Craig, for the Bay-to-Breakers annual race. Gary loved sports. He played football in high school, coached youth athletics for many years, and was an avid BSU football and basketball fan. He and Shawna traveled the world after he finally retired. Out of all the places they traveled, Gary’s favorite place was Maui.
He loved the Lord and leaves a legacy of faith with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Shawna, son, Craig and daughter-in-love Sheri, his daughter Sheri Bamrick and son-in-love, Bob. His grandchildren Kyle and wife Georgia Forsdick, granddaughter Samanatha Forsdick, Jake and wife Kortney Bamrick, Josh Bamrick, sisters Betty Sherer and Judy Henningson as well as many nephews, nieces, and cousins
