Kenneth Gale Morey of Meridian, Idaho passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2023. Ken was born to Mark and Mamie Morey on December 21, 1931 in Cuba, Illinois. The Morey family moved to Inkom, Idaho during Ken’s high school years.
Ken married Mable Joy Morey (Lish) on September 10, 1950 in Inkom, Idaho. Ken worked numerous jobs in and around Pocatello including the Union Pacific Railroad, construction, and a meat packing plant. While working full time and sometimes nights, Ken got his Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and his teaching certificate from Idaho State University in the spring on 1964. He began his teaching career at Wood River High School in Hailey, Idaho in the Fall of 1965. He taught advance placement calculus, physics, and other mathematic courses until his retirement in 1993.
Ken was a devoted family man and outdoorsman. He loved to hunt and spend time in the Idaho wilderness and loved to take pictures of the most beautiful places in Idaho. He enjoyed camping and horseback riding, but most of all, he was an avid snowmobiler and enjoyed doing that with an extensive list of family and friends.
Ken and Joy moved to the warmer climate of Boise, Idaho in 2004. Shortly after moving to Boise, Ken joined the Meridian Chapter of the Idaho Chariots Car Club. He was proud of his antique cars that he had, including a Model A, a 1937 Ford Coupe, and a 1951 Studebaker truck.
Most of all, Ken was proud of and extremely close with his family. He was married to his wife, Joy for over 72 years.
Ken was proceeded in death by his parents, his daughter, Joy Elaine Jex of Pocatello, and his brother, Pete Morey of Inkom, Idaho.
Ken is survived by his wife Joy, his son Steve of Donnelly, Idaho, Daughter Amy Jo of Boise, Idaho, Son Phillip of Meridian, Idaho. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 2 great great-grandchildren.
In place of flowers, please make a small donation to your favorite charity in Ken’s name. An open house will be held at Ken and Joy’s home on Saturday, February 25, 2023. Friends and family are welcome to join us in celebrating Ken’s unique and admirable life from 2pm to 6pm on that day.
The family will also have a celebration of life for him in the Spring in McCammon, Idaho.
