Kelly Lavern Harwood returned to his heavenly home on Thursday, August 17, 2023.
Kelly was born October 5, 1964 in Woodland, California. He was the youngest of four children born to Gerald Lavern and Mona Marlene Harwood. He grew up and graduated from Lincoln High School in Stockton, California, where he was an active and hilarious child who loved skateboarding, music, and cars, especially his Mustang Mach 3.
Kelly was an accomplished guitarist and loved heavy metal, especially Rush. He loved playing his electric guitars to music and would crank his amplifier louder- even in the middle of the night. Though he never performed, Kelly had an amazing talent and interest for music.
He took special attention to his nieces and nephews, making sure to ask about their interests, friends and schoolwork. Kelly took time to teach many to ride a skateboard and swim. Some were lucky enough to be treated to private guitar lessons! On Thanksgiving, Kelly would “sneak” the kids away for Slurpees at 7-11 between dinner and dessert.
Kelly had a love for his cat, Rocket. It was his companion for a large part of his adult life, and he cared for the cat with love and tenderness.
Beyond anything, Kelly was loved. Though he struggled with his health, Kelly was surrounded constantly by those who adored him.
Kelly is survived by his three siblings: Deborah Lee Taylor (Gregory), Jeni Sue Harbour (Thomas), and Gerald Kevin, his 15 nieces and nephews, and 37 great-nieces and nephews.
Kelly will be laid to rest in private services in the Star, Idaho cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Bowman Funeral Parlor of Garden City, Idaho.
