Karen L Howard

Karen Sue Lenkersdorfer Howard, 64, of Meridian, Idaho passed away in her home on April 19th after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. She was raised in Richland, WA, the third of five children born to Lurlene and Douglas Lenkersdorfer.

She met Brett Howard on a study abroad trip to the country of Israel. They married on October 21, 1982. During their 43 wonderful years of marriage, they became the parents of 5 and grandparents of 19. They spent the majority of their years in Gresham, OR, and moved to Idaho 7 years ago to care for aging parents.

Karen was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and her faith defined her life of service. Throughout her life, she was also an avid scrapbooker, runner, and quilter. Above all, she was an incredible wife, mother, and grandmother. Her greatest joy was her family. She homeschooled all 5 of her children from elementary through high school. She was their fierce advocate and, together with the love of her life, taught them the value of hard work and love for others. Karen always said grandchildren were her treasures, and treated them as such. She was never too busy for those she loved.

She is survived by her husband Brett Howard; their children and spouses, Janae Geurts (Jeffrey Geurts), Jenees Hall (Kasey Hall), Scott Howard (Christy Howard), Jocelyn Sevy (Adam Sevy), and Gage Howard (Lana Howard); and her grandchildren, Dallin Geurts (17), Saren Geurts (16), Jordan Geurts (14), Lillian Geurts (11), Allison Geurts (2), Jaxon Geurts (6mo), Milo Hall (12), Hazel Hall (10), Thea Hall (5), Halle Hall (5), Brett Howard (9), Jax Howard (4), Isla Sevy (14), Garrison Sevy (12), Alexander Sevy (10), Genevieve Sevy (8), Riley Howard (9), Lydia Howard (7), and Eli Howard (4).

She was the heart of us all, and we are all better for having been loved by her. Until we meet again.
