Justine Lynn Calderwood, beloved wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, and friend to all who knew her, passed away on May 23rd, 2026 in Boise, Idaho at the age of 62.
Born April 4th, 1964 at St. Lukes in Boise Idaho, Justine was the daughter of Norma and Arthur “Bud” Horton. She met her husband Jon in 1986, and they were married in 1988. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter and adventures.
Above all else, Justine was a devoted mother. She raised three children with equal parts tenderness and strength, a fierce love that never wavered and the kind of patience that made every child feel like the most important person in the world. Her home was always open to family and friends, and she had a gift for making everyone feel welcome and valued.
Justine was always a wonderful caregiver to her entire family. Her daughter Joni needed round the clock care, and because of Justine's love and devotion she thrived. In 1998, once all her children were in school full time, she started working at the Boise School District. Justine was a "lunch lady" for 28 years, and she made some life-long friends along the way. She was beloved by students and staff alike. She also spent many years as a Research Consultant for Consultants in Epilepsy and Neurology, wanting to do her part to spread knowledge and awareness.
Those who knew her remember her quick wit, warm hugs, and special gifts she loved to give. She remembered everyone’s birthdays, anniversaries, and was the first to reach out and offer help to anyone in need. Justine loved camping, playing board games, reading, shopping for her grandkids, riding her bike, tending to her garden, and playing with her family. She was always first in line for the next big adventure. Whether it be 4-wheeling with her family, riding a mechanical bull with her friends, picking the tallest roller coaster she could find, or jumping off a mountain and parachuting with a complete stranger – she was fearless and lived life to the fullest.
Justine is survived by her beloved husband and best friend of 38 years: Jon Calderwood; her mother Norma Horton; her children: Faith (Ben) Byers and Tanner (Ashley) Calderwood; her grandchildren: Hazel, Hunter and Alayna; and countless other friends and family that she adored. She was preceded in death by her daughter Jonelle, her brother Vern, her father Bud, and many other family and friends that we know are welcoming her with open arms and a wild welcoming party.
Service will be held at: New Hope Nazarene in Boise (8585 W Overland Rd, Boise, ID 83709) at 12pm June 4th. Graveside Service to follow at Morris Hill Cemetery. The family asks that you honor her memory by donating to the Giant Cell Arthritis Foundation Giant Cell Arthritis.
