Joshua Christopher Colberg, 35, passed away unexpectedly in an automobile accident on June 30, 2026.

Josh was born on May 22, 1991, in Boise, ID to Chris & Kit Colberg.

He grew up in Star, ID and had a fantastic sense of adventure. He loved trips to the river, swinging on the rope swing, riding his bike and scooter, fishing, floating the canal, catching frogs and butterflies, rollerblading, sledding, snowboarding, playing with his sister and friends, and making forts outside on his family’s property.

Josh enjoyed reading and playing video games. He was also an avid listener of an array of musical genres.

At the young age of 5 years old, Josh began a taekwondo journey that eventually inspired his entire family to join in. It flourished into one of the biggest passions of him, his parents, and his sister. Josh was incredibly talented and competed in many taekwondo tournaments over the years earning him multiple state titles, and he ultimately reached the rank of 5th degree black belt. However, his talents shined even more as he took the mat as an instructor at the young age of 10 years old and continued that on for 25 more years, including taking his talents and instructorship to daycares through the company he acquired, Kidz Kickz. His creativity truly was unmatched, creating both warmups and games that made his students not only enjoy his classes but learn skills they will take beyond the mat. He showed so much enthusiasm, encouragement, kindness, patience, and skill teaching all of his students that he lovingly earned the title “Karate Josh.”

On 8/26/07, Josh gave his life to Jesus. He exemplified his faith daily, especially in the way he cared for those around him with such a genuine, loving heart.

He spent many summers well into adulthood vacationing with his family at the Oregon Coast—one of the best crabbers on the dock!

As an adult Josh kept up his active nature and enjoyed tumbling/parkour, geocaching, going to concerts, doing trivia with friends, playing disc golf, roller skating, line dancing, shooting pool, thrifting, and taking care of his cats Moose & Moo.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents Pat Volkman, Paul Volkman, Paul Stanton, and Cal Colberg. He is survived by his parents Chris & Kit Colberg, grandmother Gwen Colberg, sister & brother-in-law Megan & Kevin Kluckhohn, and sweet niece Kensley who loved her “Big UNC” very much.

His legacy lives on in all the lives he’s touched over the years. And we very much so look forward to seeing him again one day in Heaven.
