Joseph G. Shoen, Jr, 69, of Boise, passed away on April 24, 2024, in Boise, Idaho.

Joe was born the first son of Joseph G. Shoen, Sr. and Lois Catherine (Stevens)Shoen on July 11, 1954, in Tawas City, Michigan. He joined the Navy at 18, where he discovered his lifelong illness of Type one diabetes, cutting his time of service to his country short. He married the love of his life Mary Jane (Wigington)Shoen February 14, 1977, in Lawton, Oklahoma, whom he was married to for 47 years.  Through their union, they were blessed with a son, Joseph Cody Shoen born May 1, 1979.  Joe, medically retired from a 32-year career of service with the United States Postal Service in 2006. During his career with the postal service, he served in numerous positions in the American Postal Workers Union including Boise local President.  After retiring, Joe spent his days caring for his granddaughter, Jane Marie Shoen, and indulging in his hobbies of fishing, art, and carpentry.

In his later years, Joe enjoyed his time watching old war and western movies and spending time with his granddaughter. Joe, succeeded in living a full life despite his debilitating disease of diabetes.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents.

Joe is survived by five sisters: Linda Quarles (Carroll), Barbara Sorrells (Hunt Hubbard), Susan Oden (Ronnie), Connie Ouimet (Dean), and Kristi Phillips (Michael), and two brothers: Kenneth (Elizabeth), Steven (Ashley). Joe also leaves a legacy of one son and one granddaughter, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
