John Raymond Coverdale Jr. , 74 years old of Glenns Ferry, Idaho passed peacefully at home with his family on March 23, 2024 after lifelong difficulty with HHT.  John was born in Los Angeles, CA on October 21, 1949 to Betty Jean (Hicks) Coverdale and John Raymond Coverdale Sr. He was raised by his mom Betty and his stepdad Thomas E. Close. He graduated from school in California and took welding at Riverside City College. John was a certified welder in Idaho, Oregon and California. He loved working with his hands, engineering, creating, and building many things. He built vehicles, beds, cradles, archways, swings, metal flowers and so much more. He would build anything with little to nothing and always do it with his shining positivity and smile. He worked for 14 years at TwinFalls School District manufacturing safety railings,  building trailers, and awning frames.  He loved hunting, camping and the great outdoors. He spent many weekends taking his family out of the city and into the beauty of nature for camping and exploring. His love for motorcycles and the great outdoors was shared by his wife Sheila Maie Coverdale.

John married his first wife Sandy in 1971 and had two children, Angela Marie Coverdale and Daniel Richard James Coverdale. They divorced in 1981 and John raised his two children on his own until he married Sheila Maie Coverdale April 2, 1984. John adopted Sheila’s two daughters Joilene Ray Dawn Coverdale (Schiers) and Casey Sarah Coverdale (Sorensen). John and Sheila had a daughter of their own Lindsay Maie Coverdale ( Fisher).

John was survived by his wife Sheila Coverdale of Glenns Ferry, Idaho. His daughter Angela Coverdale of Jerome, son Daniel Coverdale of Jerome, daughter Joilene Coverdale ( Michael Schiers) of Boise, Daughter Casey Coverdale (Sam Sorensen) of Middleton, daughter Lindsay Coverdale (Casey Fisher) of Boise. He is also survived by his brothers Danny Coverdale, Jim Coverdale, and his sisters Betty Jean Hock, and Lucille Garvin ; 14 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Betty Jean Close and Thomas E. Close, his brother Thomas Close Jr. and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

John was much loved and known for his amazing smile, everlasting positive outlook and Faith in God. He loved his family with no restraint and found joy in their success and happiness.

Services will be held graveside at the Glenn Rest Cemetery, 2005 Frontage Rd (off old HWY 30), Glenns Ferry at 11:00am on Friday, April 5 th . Dinner to follow at the Glenns Ferry VFW Post 3646, 132 E 5th Ave.
