We are grieving the loss of our beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather. After a long courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease John died on February 11, 2023 at the age of 82.
He was born to his loving parents on Christmas day in New York City. He grew up playing stickball off the stoop and forming lifelong friendships with the Astoria Four. He was a New Yorker through and through and never lost that, he could walk faster than most people run.
John was a fanatical Notre Dame fan from an early age and his dream came true when he attended and graduated from the University. John and Janet took many trips over the years to the campus, and he found serenity in the Grotto. They even took a cross country trip to attend his 50 th class reunion at Notre Dame.
John served his country in the United States Army. Once he got out of the Army, he married his soul mate Janet, and were blessed to have 3 children and two grandkids. They were happily married for over 56 years.
The family lived in many places over the years. When the family moved to Boise in 1983, they found their true home. Janet and John loved vacations and took yearly trips to their favorite place, the Oregon coast culminating with their last trip on their 50 th wedding anniversary.
John loved three things above all else: his wife, his family and Notre Dame. John was a devoted family man who would do anything for the people he cared for. He had a dry wit, but also had a goofy sense of humor telling Dad jokes and he loved a good pun. He will be missed immensely by his family and friends. We love you, Dad.
