John Arthur Ahrens, 76, a longtime resident of Twin Falls, Idaho, passed away leaving behind a large and extended family who will remember him with love.
John was born on September 5, 1949, to his parents Betty J. and Arthur J. Ahrens. He spent his life in several places across the country, including St. Louis, Missouri; Independence, Missouri where he graduated High School; Norman, Oklahoma; Bryan, Texas; Providence, Rhode Island; Sacramento and Santa Rosa, California; Las Vegas, Nevada; and ultimately Twin Falls, Idaho, which he called home.
He worked in telecommunications as a self-taught draftsman and was employed with companies including Southern Bell, Eastern Bell, Pacific Bell, and AT&T. Through dedication and skill, he rose to become one of the top three engineers and managers/contractors in his field.
John is survived by his sons, Paul Ahrens of Santa Rosa, CA and Matthew Ahrens of San Diego, CA, and David Ahrens of Twin Falls, ID; and by his grandchildren, Kaylee Silvez, Cheyenne Ahrens, Kami Ahrens, Jacob Ahrens, Emberlynn Ahrens, and Teddy Ahrens. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Sarah Ahrens, sister, Sue Kaine, as well as ex-spouses, Patricia Chambers, and Debbie Lutto, and his late brother Steve Ahrens children and grandchildren. His family extends across several locations, including Jerome, Idaho; Twin Falls, Idaho; Santa Rosa, California; Texas, Washington state and San Diego, California.
He was preceded in death by his, mom, Betty J. Ahrens, dad, Arthor J. Ahrens, brother, Steve Ahrens, and his ex-spouse, Pamela Guptill (Walker).
John enjoyed a variety of simple pleasures in life. He enjoyed time with his sons, grandchildren, and friends. John took joy in watching his children and grandchildren succeed at what they set out to do. His hobbies included driving, drawing, eating, and a deep appreciation for nature. He enjoyed going to car shows, building model cars, attending aviation shows, and tracking flights and ships.
John grew up Catholic and as an adult he became a Christian and attended Kingdom Church with his family.
He will be remembered for his work ethic, independence, love for his family, and the many connections he built throughout his life.
