Joanne Judy, 87 of Kuna, went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, October 16th, 2024. She had been diagnosed with bone cancer just three weeks earlier, which was ironic considering she was born with a heart defect where her great arteries were transposed and many doctors always thought that her heart would give out and be the cause of her death.
Joanne was born to Frank and Evelyn Boor on August 20th, 1937 in Boise, Idaho, the younger of two children. She graduated from Boise High School in 1955 and married her first husband Jerry Lundgren shortly after. She gave birth to her daughter Lorice in 1956, and her son Ricky in 1959. After she and Jerry were divorced three years later, she met and married the love of her life, Walt Laughlin, and in 1965 had a son Ron Laughlin. They were happily married until Walt passed away from a stroke in 1992. She later met and married Bob Judy, a classmate from Boise High, and they were together until her passing.
Mom was an incredible woman, she had a beautiful smile, and an infectious laugh. Family was always very important to her. She always made sure that they came first in her life. We were very fortunate to be able to celebrate her 87 birthday this past August with a gathering of all her children, grandchildren, and all but two of her great grandchildren. This was a very special time for her, and it was all she talked about until she became ill. Mom was known for her cooking skills, canning, and jam making. Her huckleberry-raspberry jam was famous in our family, and for several years a couple of her great grandchildren thought she invented jam! Getting together every Christmas with all her family was the time of her life. Mom loved vegetable and flower gardening all her life, and had beautiful landscaping where ever she lived. She would spend hours out in the yard planting, and nourishing her flowers and vegetables. Mom started her career working for the first Albertsons store on 16th and State as a book keeper in the private label brands. She later went on to work for several businesses as a book keeper until retiring. She loved traveling to places near the ocean, and Hawaii, and Isla Mujeres in Mexico was her favorite destinations to swim and look at the beautiful scenery. She had many fond memories of her trips there with Walt. I can picture her meeting Walt again in heaven and how happy she must have been. It makes me smile thinking about that.
Joanne is survived by her three children: daughter Lori Olson of Boise, son Rick Lundgren and wife Debbie of Boise, son Ron Laughlin of Boise, her grandchildren Andrea Lundgren-Cook and husband Ian, Sean Olson and his wife Jennifer, Hilary Ridgeway and her husband Marc, Jason Olson and his wife Michelle, Amy Laughlin and
12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents: Frank and Evelyn, brother Russ, and grandson Austin.
We would like to thank the Judy family, especially Vicki White who was an angel, and Horizon Hospice for the excellent care throughout her illness.
Funeral services will be held at Bowman Funeral Parlor on Friday October 25th at 1:00 located at 10254 W. Carlton Bay Garden City, Idaho 83714.
