Boise

JoAnn Lea Getter Rock, 89, of Boise, ID, went home to the loving arms of her Savior Jesus on Monday, October 19, 2026.

JoAnn was born in Nampa, Idaho on June 26, 1937 to parents Leo Victor Getter and Julia Emelia Dahltorp Getter. She grew up living next door to her grandmother and an uncle, along with her older brother Dale in Nampa. She was a 1955 graduate of Nampa High School. During her high school years she met Everett Wood while he was in the Navy and they married in June 1955. They became parents to three children, DeAnn, Karen and Jerry. They were later divorced. On May 9, 1980 she married Don Rock, Sr. in Boise, Idaho and they made their home there. She and Don enjoyed traveling and worked on building classic Fords together until he passed in June 1994. During her working years JoAnn was an engraver for two trophy businesses and was later employed by Hewlett-Packard in Boise until her retirement.

JoAnn loved to sew, quilt, craft and bake. She made clothes for her girls, gifted quilts to family members and volunteered with a sewing group that made stuffed bears for children at St. Luke’s hospital. She treated family and friends to special tea parties and holiday dinners at her home. There were always homemade cookies in the freezer for her grandkids. Family and holidays were important to her and she especially loved Christmas. She also enjoyed watching football and other sporting events, attending many games when her grandchildren were playing!

JoAnn was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Boise.

JoAnn is survived by her daughters, DeAnn (Phillip) West of Mesquite, NV and Karen (Erick, Sr.) Limani of Boise, ID; a son Jerry (Kristi) Wood of Eagle, ID; and a brother Dale (Nikki) Getter of Bothell, WA. She is also survived by nine grandchildren: Hilary, Justin, Sara, Alexander, Mallory, Bryanna, Zachary, Darian and Rylan; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
