Jessica Dawn Aland

May 5, 2001 — May 14, 2025

Meridian

Jessica Dawn Aland May 5, 2001 – May 14, 2025 Jessica Dawn Aland, age 24, passed away on May 14, 2025, in Meridian, Idaho. She was born on May 5, 2001, in Provo, Utah, to Chad Smith Aland and Angela Dawn Jacobs, the eldest of three children. From the beginning, Jessica brought a special light and joy to those around her.

Jessica’s life was marked by creativity, compassion, and curiosity. From childhood, she delighted in dressing up and putting on plays with her younger brothers, Jacob and Lucas, and developed a deep love for the arts. She was a gifted artist who enjoyed painting, drawing, and sculpting—often favoring dragons and other fantastical subjects. Her imagination also found expression through writing and reading books, especially fantasy novels, and her ever-evolving hairstyles and color choices.

She moved with her family throughout her youth living in places such as Vancouver, WA; Marion, IA; and finally, Meridian, ID. Along the way, Jessica nurtured many interests: piano, dance, rock collecting, gardening, and horseback riding. She loved all animals, especially horses and cats. As early as age 5, she began riding horses in the Cardston parade with her Grandpa Jacobs.

Jessica graduated from Rocky Mountain High School in 2019. Prior to graduation, she traveled to Tonga with her cousin on a humanitarian trip to build a home for a family displaced by a hurricane. She thoroughly enjoyed the people, the Tongan culture, but most importantly serving others. She began studying horticulture at BYU–Idaho then continued that field of study at the College of Western Idaho. She worked diligently throughout her young adult life, holding positions at Home Depot, Moonlight Lighting, the Idaho Botanical Gardens, and most recently Albertsons where she worked with amazing managers who mentored and nurtured her. She made fast friends wherever she went, and formed deep and lasting bonds with many she worked and interacted with.

She loved spending time in nature, bird watching, camping, wakeboarding, snow skiing, and rafting. Some of her fondest memories were hiking and fishing trips in Waterton Lakes National Park, where she often caught the biggest fish. Jessica had a unique ability to bring color and light into everything she did, from floral arrangements and works of art to the relationships she nurtured with friends and family.

She is survived by her parents, Chad and Angela, her younger brothers Jacob and Lucas, grandparents Ron and Diana Jacobs, grandmother Lyndell Aland, and a large extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins she adored and loved spending time with. She was preceded in death by her grandfather Richard Smith Aland, and cousins Tanner and Sophie Jacobs.

We will deeply miss Jessica’s caring ways, brilliant mind, warm hugs, infectious laugh, and especially her beautiful smile. We will cherish the time we had with her and the many ways she touched each of our lives
