Jesse R Niederer Jr. passed away at the age of 82, on January 19, 2024 in Nampa.

Jesse had fond memories of being raised in Rexburg, Idaho with numerous adventures of hunting and fishing with his brother, hanging out with cousins and siblings at his grandparents, playing in a band with his friends, smoking an occasional forbidden cigarette, to eating a donut each morning on the way to school because his girlfriend’s dad had donuts at his shop (she didn’t even know she was Jesse’s girlfriend).

Jesse met his wife, Dorothy Clark. Jesse’s dad was a regular at the café Dorothy worked in St. Anthony’s. He told Dorothy he should meet his son and I guess you could say the rest is history. Jesse followed his dad’s footsteps and enlisted in the Navy. Dorothy was such a good cook that Jesse gained 16 pounds the first month they were married. Jesse and Dorothy had four children together, Natalie, Michelle, Brian and Travis. He and Dorothy lived in Idaho Falls and California before moving to Boise, Idaho where Jesse worked for Intermountain Gas until his retirement after 37 years. The family’s life altered drastically when Dorothy passed away in a car accident on January 1 st , 1994.

Later Jesse was introduced to Jacque Lowry by a parent of one of Jacque’s former students. They spent the next 27 years together. During this time Jesse became an avid golfer, you could find him on the golf course two or more days a week before his health got in the way. He even took up a bit of hiking but that wasn’t nearly as much fun as golfing.  Jesse still continued his weekly Friday morning coffee chats with his friends until the past few months.

Jesse has one surviving sister living in Salt Lake City, Linda Allen. His other three siblings Brian, Barabara and Bradley proceeded him in death.

Jesse will be remembered by many people. But the people that mattered the most to him was family. His family grew by leaps and bounds when he met Jacque, her sons their wives and kids and eventually many grandkids.  Blended with his original family and their kids and grandkids there were lots of us to love.

So, as we say goodbye to Jesse for now, each of us will remember him in the small things he did or said that were meant just for us. Thank you for the memories.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 1:00 pm, on Tuesday, January 30 th , at Dry Creek Cemetery on the Syringa Gardens side, Boise, Id.
