Jason Ray Frahm
Jason Ray Frahm was born 52 years ago, on June 16 th , 1970 in Placerville, CA and grew up in Sonoma County with his loving family, mother Nancy Carroll, father Richard Frahm, older sister Amy and younger brother, John Charles. The Frahms are a very close family whom Jason adored and confided in often and who were truly his best friends. It is a profound loss to many who knew him.
Jason was a beloved husband, father, son and friend to many. He was highly intelligent, multi-faceted and gifted in many ways. He was caring, interesting and above all, loved and held dear to heart his entire family. What he desired most in this world was to live his best life for his family and it is for this reason, we all love him so very much.
Jason would be known as “racin’ Jason”, running around the house as a kid and developing a love for sports and fast cars. He worked in the automotive industry and became a European car enthusiast early on, with a specific passion for Porsches and Formula One. This lifelong passion would take him on a journey and career path. Following high school, entrepreneurial Jason painted cars and opened his own car detailing business, hiring his brother John as his first employee. After a long day at work, the two young men would often head straight to the golf course to enjoy a little brotherly competition.
Jason found success with every endeavor. He managed finance at a car dealership, ran a mortgage office, created JRF Consulting and since he had a talent for finding cars for buyers, came up with MyCarBuyingAlly.com with a close colleague. He was an entrepreneur at heart, a talented problem-solver, people person, and effective project manager in various industries including construction and elder care. He was a “fixer” who helped businesses and people succeed and became a self-taught master mechanical engineer with an eye for detail. Jason was featured in several publications, including Road & Track magazine’s July 2015 edition “911 Unhinged ”, and March 2016 Car Magazine UK “ It Had to Look Great, Be Built like a Rolex and Go Down the Road Like a Weapon”. Jason also had one of his reimagined Singer project Porsches featured on the TV series Jay Leno’s Garage and worked in the Boise area with the fine folks and close colleagues at British Italian German Motors.
Jason was the life of a party, a guitar-shredding dad, and an entertaining storyteller with a soft side. He enjoyed an intense love for music and played guitar since his early 20’s at home, in a rock band and with various musicians and friends. He could spend hours analyzing songs, and in his later years, reminiscing on the old times these tunes helped create. Music was his solace, saying it was his “ best penicillin ” for what ailed him. He shared this passion for music with family and friends, giving the gift of a guitar to his niece Sofia, and a training program to his niece Cate, telling her that “ one knows they are a music lover if a song can break your heart one day, and mend it the next ”. He could be caught jamming to many of his favorites like Eddie Van Halen, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jimi Hendrix and Steve Vie, and the week of his passing, he was enjoying various oldies like Journey’s “ Faithfully” . He was a huge fan of Eddie Van Halen, in particular “Eruption” which he proudly played for anyone that wanted to hear it, telling his brother John, among others, how hearing it the first time was what inspired him to play guitar.
Jason was an animal lover! Dogs would melt under his loving touch and his ability to connect with these precious creatures was truly special. His current dog, Champ, basked in Jason’s care and loyalty to him, enthusiastically enjoying those daily walks and outings. We will also never forget the very special connection he had with his long time and beloved dog, Chance, who Alexis chose as a puppy, and with whom we like to envision Jason reuniting on the other side.
Coming from a strong military family on both sides of his marriage with Joie, he was also a true patriot who respected the flag, his country and those who sacrificed for it. He was an avid reader, and his heroes were navy seals and veterans. He loved to hear stories from veterans and mentioned Veterans Day as his favorite holiday. While he enjoyed opening the windows to crank his guitar with the Marshall stack for the neighborhood to enjoy, the patriot cranked the “ Star Spangled Banner” as a tradition on 4 th of July. He also had plans to join a local band in Boise to play for a live audience once again in his free time.
Of all the things that Jason loved, dedication to his faith, family, and a few close lifelong friends were the most important. He was a Christian believer and respected the Word of God. He was a protector — loyal, compassionate, empathic, patient, and nurturing. He always gave honor and respect to his and Joie’s parents because it was simply, the right thing to do. He enjoyed family get togethers and Zoom calls, and never met a grill he could not master. He was always a protector of those who were less fortunate, a wonderful husband, friend, and a true family man.
Jason has two beloved daughters, Alexis Winter Frahm, born February 15, 1991 and who preceded him into heaven on June 24, 2020. And Shelsea Ann Frahm, born March 31, 1998 who made him a proud grandfather and shared his fascination of fast cars. Alexis had a heart of gold and enjoyed him as the loving father he was. Jason never recovered from the loss of his child Alexis, as no parent could, and he thought of her every single day after her untimely passing in 2020. Shelsea, too, was always in his heart and thoughts, longing to be with her and her sweet new baby daughter, Skylar. He was eagerly anticipating being part of Skylar’s life. Jason’s hope and dream was to have all three of his kids and his granddaughter together with him one day.
“My dad was a good man with a magnetic personality. He did whatever he could to help others and stood up for what was right. He had a contagious laugh and smile that could light up a room and could make anyone he talked to feel like they’ve known him for years. He took pride in the work he did, and even more in his children. I wish more than anything that I would’ve had more time with him, and that he could’ve met his first and only grandchild. As she grows older, she’ll get to hear stories about how cool her grandpa was and how much he loved her. I’m grateful for the memories we were able to make while he was still here on this earth, and I hope he is reunited with my sister Alexis once again. The world doesn’t feel the same with both of them gone.” Shelsea Frahm, February 2023
On May 8 th 2006, Jason met the woman who would profoundly impact his life and whom he would later call the love of his life (“LOML”). Jason Ray and Joie Rae Pitre met in the mortgage business and became close friends first. They had an instant connection, bonding over faith and the truth of God’s unconditional love. He was a grounded, sensitive, smart gentleman with a chuckle that reminded her of her grandfather Arthur Ray. They spent hours on the phone daily, often talking about his girls. His talent of finding cars came in handy as he located Joie’s new car in NoCal which would become the “vehicle” by which they fell in love. He spontaneously left on a road trip with her in the new car, and a new beginning in SoCal. After two years as friends and one year of dating, he would ask Joie to be his wife. They married in Venice, CA on May 8 th , 2009 on the anniversary of their meeting, and had over 15 years of happy memories. From Joie to Jason, “I will love you to the end of time .”
They welcomed their son, Harrison Ray Frahm on March 12, 2010. Jason, Richard, Shelsea and Harrison all shared memories and bonded on their common interest in and enthusiasm of fast cars. Jason loved throwing the football with his son, teaching him about life and becoming a man, wrestling and giggling. He had a great bond and sense of humor with Harrison and was teaching him to be a helper and protector of others, standing up for what’s right. “Be a sheepdog” he would say.
Jason was truly a protective, attentive, and supportive father to all three of his children who knew him in different and unique ways. He never stopped worrying about any of them and longed to be with them. Whether at a distance, or together they would all navigate life’s joys, illnesses and hardships with his unfailing love and loyalty to them.
On February 6 th , 2023, Jason was called home to the Lord. He will be forever missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing him. Although his time here was too short, he leaves behind a legacy of loyalty, love, and laughter. All the various chapters of his life provided many with personal and cherished memories of him; ones that we all hold so deeply in our minds and hearts forever.
Jason was special and irreplaceable to each of us and will be remembered fondly as he brought joy into any room. We celebrate his life as he would want us to do. He is now resting in the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. So, until we all reunite with you once again Jason Ray Frahm, rest in peace and know we all love you and miss you so very much.
