Janie Rae Philips was born in San Francisco, California, on November 27, 1953, and passed away August 15, 2025.
Janie grew up in the Bay Area and graduated from Sunset High School. She had a wonderful childhood growing up with her three siblings, Barb, David “Fuzz”, and Danny “Bones”. She was very close to her parents “Bird” and “Ug” as they were nicknamed.
Janie married Ron Ravano in 1971. Together they had one child, Jennifer Lynn Ravano.
Janie married her second husband, Jerry Philips in 1995. They lived in several places together, including Livermore, CA, Maui Hawaii and Eagle, Idaho; where they lived until her passing.
Janie worked full-time for one employer her entire adult life: The Lawrence Livermore Laboratory in Livermore, California.
She lived for her Yorkie dogs: Bubba, Raider, Mercedes, Lexi, Bella and Khloe. She enjoyed Hallmark movies at Christmas, and snacking on gingersnaps, her favorite cookie. She loved shopping so much, her catch phrase was “it’s all about matching!” Her favorite foods were SFO sourdough bread, and crab louie salads. She would watch all the games of Bay Area professional sports teams: the Raiders, Warriors, and A’s.
Janie is survived by her spouse Jerry Philips, children, Jennifer Ravano, Michele (Shane Pannell), Tiffany (Paul Reidinger), Brad Philips, her two dogs Bella and Khloe, siblings Barbara Wallace, David Boyd, and Danny Boyd, and five grandchildren: Dillon Sabados, Demi Sabados, Leah Reidinger, Carly Reidinger, and Taylor Reidinger. She is preceded in death by her father, Ira Ellis Boyd “Ug” and mother, Dona Jean Boyd “Bird.”
A private celebration of life will be held for family and friends.
Janie’s memory will be cherished always. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
