James E. Taylor

May 24, 1937 — July 29, 2025

Nampa

James Eugene Taylor, 88, of Melba, Idaho, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2025 surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on May 24, 1937 in Nampa, Idaho to his loving parents, Victor and Doris Taylor.

From an early age, James developed a lifelong passion for aviation, that became both a source of joy and a defining part of his identity. He graduated from Nampa High School in 1955 and was active in Civil Air Patrol, where his love for flying led him to a career as a Cropduster Pilot accumulating over 30,000 flight hours across the great Northwest. In addition to his civilian career, James served proudly in the Idaho Air National Guard for 33 years, rising to the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 4, where he piloted a variety of aircraft—including his favorite, the mighty Chinook. His steady leadership, dedication, and integrity earned him the deep respect of his peers and community alike.

James’s life was marked by quiet strength, steadfast values and a love for the simple things, especially dogs and fishing.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

James is survived by his children: Teri Taylor Herz (Robert Herz), Kimberly Taylor, Steven Taylor; and his sister, Mary Jo Presley.

His legacy continues through his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
