James Salazar resident of Boise, Idaho, passed away at age 92, on May 1, 2025. James was born in Emmett, Idaho on December 20, 1932, to Claudina Romero Salazar and Delfino Duran Salazar.
He grew up in Milliken, Colorado, and also resided in Thornton and Denver, Colorado, until October 1973. James moved his family to Boise, Idaho. James and Dora, his first wife who had nine children, six daughters and three sons, divorced. James married Lillian Darline Mummert in Reno, Nevada, on February 23, 1976. He later bought a home in Centerville, Idaho, but lived the last nine years of his life in Boise, Idaho.
James served in the United States army for two years, seven months, and 24 days entering the Korean war conflict. He met his wife, Dora Montoya Salazar and they married in Greeley, Colorado, in August 1953.
James was employed with the US Postal Service and then retired from Hewlett Packard.
James has three surviving siblings, including two sisters, Dolores Pacheco from Johnstown, Colorado, and Victoria Quintana from Loveland, Colorado. He has one surviving brother, Louis Salazar, who lives in Evans, Colorado.
He always loved to fish and hunt. He loved to go dancing. He also enjoyed wood carving and building his garage and shed. He liked snowmobiling, traveling in his RV in style with his VW or ATV’s.
James was a practicing Catholic and served at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church every Sunday, collecting the offerings in Idaho City, Idaho.
James will be greatly missed by all his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He is a great great grandfather to Mavis Woodard, Shepherd J.D. Connole and Liara Hipp. His friends will also miss my dad because he was a great neighbor and friend.
His grandchildren are Demetrio, Amalia, Dori, Estevan, Dominic, Frank, Jamie, James E., Brandon, Brittany, Jason, Amanda, Sean, Jesse, Sophia, Veronica, Randy, Michael, Steven, Brandy, Diana, and Chantel. His great-grandchildren are Marissa, Jack, Caleb, Catorina, Alexsus, Mateo, Hope, Florinda, Isabella, Estevan Jr., Antonio, Mariah, Elliat, Bella, Emilia, Charles, Madeline, Janelle, Landon, Faith, Kiana, Devante, Gary, Mia, Anthony, Jessie, Elijah, Leyla, Anabella, Janelle, Jalissa, Lexi, Randy Jr., Alex and children from Brandy. James also has grandchildren from his marriage to Darline; Kelsey, Brandy, and Sherri.
James is survived by his children, Patricia Salazar, Jacqueline Salazar, James Lee Salazar, Elaine Seaman, Jennifer Salazar, James D. Salazar, and Valerie Salazar, and was preceded in death by his parents, Delfino and Claudina Salazar, his brothers, Joseph, Ernesto, John and Bernardo Salazar, and his children, Carolyn Montes, Randy Salazar, and Marti Mummert.
.A committal service will be held, 11:00 am, Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, 10100 Horseshoe Bend Rd., Boise.
