James (Jim) Tranquilo Ciotti passed peacefully on September 27, 2020. He was born on July 9, 1949 in Jeannette, Pennsylvania to Geraldine and Albert Ciotti. Jim grew up in Jeannette and graduated from Hempfield Area High School. He then attended Kent State University where he studied archeology. He spent time living in Ligonier, Pennsylvania and Eagle, Colorado before calling Boise, Idaho home.
He loved spending time with his family and being outdoors. As a fifth generation stonemason, he was skilled in restoring historic stonework and creating beautiful spaces and works of art with natural stone. One of his favorite pastimes was sitting outside listening to bluegrass music, John Prine or Bob Dylan. In the mornings, you could find him contemplating life’s mysteries and watching the sun come up over a cup of coffee. His life philosophy was to be the best person he could be and give kindness to all he met. To know Jim was to feel unconditional love and support wherever you were on your life’s journey.
He is survived by his daughters and their husbands Amanda and Steve Visosky of Boise, Idaho and Sarah and Tyler Exner of Malo, Washington. His brother Paul Ciotti of Los Angeles California (and family Holly, Benjamin, and Gabriel); sister, Alberta Riley of Gibraltar, Michigan (and family Albert Pallitta, Olivia Fitch and her children Kyle and Kelly). He is loved by many extended family members and friends around the country.
He was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Geraldine Ciotti; his wife, Cheryl Ciotti, and brother in law, Brian Riley.
