James Russell Sipe, 79, of Hagerman, Idaho formerly of Boise, Idaho peacefully passed away April 23, 2023.
James was born on August 30, 1943 to Charles and Viola Sipe in Blanding, Utah. He graduated from high school in Barstow, California in 1962. Immediately following high school he enlisted in the Army National Guard. Jim went on to serve an LDS mission in Edinburgh, Scotland. Upon his return he went on to study business at Brigham Young University.
While attending BYU Jim met the love of his life, Karen. Jim and Karen married in the LDS Manti Temple April 3, 1968. They went on to have five children, Stephanie Kay (husband David Barbee), Russell James, Spencer Roy (wife Dixie Sipe), Kristen LaRae (husband Nathan Weeks) and Sandra Jean.
Jim worked for Idaho Power for 27 years, completing his career as an employee relations officer. He retired from the Idaho National Guard after 30 years of service as a Master Sergeant. During his life Jim participated and served in several clubs and organizations including the Lions Club, Boy Scouts and Rotary Club. Jim loved motorcycles and went on several bike trips with his sons and son-in-law, he loved the outdoors, animals, the military, his Country and his family. Jim was a lifelong member of the LDS church and filled multiple callings. He had a great sense of humor and loved to tease and joke. Jim at heart was tender, a giver, and a helper.
James was predeceased by his beloved wife Karen Sue Sipe and son Russell James Sipe. He is survived by his four remaining children, ten grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
Burial services will be held at the Veterans Cemetery on May 5, 2023, at 8:45am. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am at the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 6032 N. Five Mile Rd., Boise, Idaho.
