James was born  Monday, March 28, 1966. He developed juvenile diabetes when he was 12 ; he died on June 10, 2024 from complications of juvenile diabetes:  he was  58 years old.

As a child, he lived in Indiana for 10 years.  It is a place that held his heart.  He followed Hoosier basketball, the Colts, and most anything related to his favorite state.   He enjoyed fishing, camping, and gardening there, and especially the times spent with his grandparents with whom he was very close.

James began a career at Albertson’s  in 1982 when he was 16 years old, working various jobs for most of those years at Albertson’s Store #119 on Broadway, mainly in the Butcher Block. He made many lifelong friends through his association with colleagues and customers.  He remained with the company for over 35 years, retiring in 2017.

Preceded in death by paternal grandparents John R. and Dorothy Charlton and maternal grandparents John and Vivian Sorensen, and cousin Brandi Rains.  Survived by mother Connie Charlton of Boise and John G. Charlton of Seymour, Indiana; brother John Charlton (Endah) and sister Cathy Charlton; daughter Vanessa Jones (Matt); granddaughters Chevy and Octavia; nephews Kurt and Arthur Charlton; uncle Darryl Charlton, aunts Bonnie Charlton and Cheryl Faulkner, cousins Michelle Holt and Meredith Furlow from Indiana, along with uncles Buzz  Sorensen (Becky) and Mike Sorensen; aunts Judy Matthews, Cindy Christensen (Rod), and Deb Paige, who reside in the Northwest; cousins Jen and Derek Smith, and numerous other cousins as well as closest friends Garth, Vince, Ken, Sharon, Coby, and Glen, and cat Lina.  He loved all of them dearly, and was dearly loved in return.

The family is grateful to the staff at St. Al’s, and particularly wish to thank Dr. Mathura, and nurses Garrison and Kati for their excellent and compassionate care.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 28 at 11 a.m. in Kathryn Albertson Park, 1001 S. Americana Blvd., in Boise.  Please wear a  t-shirt depicting your favorite musical group/singer or classic car. You may honor James by making a donation to one of his favorite charities:
