Ingemar “Jay” Jeriel  Gomora Tolenada

January 22, 1980 – June 2, 2023

Jay Tolenada of Boise, Idaho passed away at the age of 43, on June 2, 2023

Jay was born on January 22, 1980, to Ingemar and Janet Tolenada in Tarlac, Philippines. As the first grandchild on both sides, Jay was always very loved, cared for and spoiled, never to be scolded for his mischievous ways which carried through to adulthood. He immigrated from the Philippines to the United States at age 4 with his parents. As the son of a 25-year Navy Veteran, he moved around the Bay Area of California before settling in Antioch, California where his younger siblings: Ian, Ingrid and Iris were later born. As the oldest of 4 children, Jay could be counted on to help take care of his younger siblings, helping his mother with whatever was needed, driving his siblings to/from school, and taking on whatever was asked of him. Even as a teenager, he was always respectful and helpful to his parents whenever needed.

In childhood, Jay enjoyed playing outside, breakdancing, and playing football. He graduated from Antioch High School in 1998 followed by receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Electronic Engineering in 2005. Jay met his high school sweetheart and wife, Jennifer in their Sophomore year at Antioch High School in 1995. From that moment on, Jay and Jenn were inseparable spending every possible moment together. Jay and Jenn were married on: September 1, 2007. After buying their first home in Mountain House, California, Jay and Jenn welcomed their first-born, a son: Julien Christopher Tolenada in 2008 followed by their daughter: Jocelynn Marie Tolenada in 2011. In January 2020, Jay moved his family to Boise, Idaho to begin a new freedom filled adventure together where they lived happily, making memories for 3.5 years prior to his passing on June 2, 2023.

Jay is known to all as a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend who could be counted on anytime for advice, a laugh, a hug, and endless love and support. To his core, Jay is a man of God, faithful to his family and friends, and whole heartedly loved his country and freedom. When he wasn’t working or spending quality time with family, his time was spent shooting, tinkering with electronics, assembling new gun builds, fishing, and anything outdoors. He always put 110% into everything he did or didn’t do it at all. Jay was always approachable and could befriend anyone. Despite long work hours and countless responsibilities, Jay always made himself available to anyone in need of his time, a laugh, a cry, or support. He just had a way with people that cannot be explained. His smile was so infectious that you could not help but be happy in his presence no matter how heavy your heart was. There are no words to express how deeply Jay will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Jay is survived by his: Wife: Jennifer Tolenada, Children: Julien Tolenada (age 14) and Jocelynn Tolenada (age 11); Parents Ingemar and Janet Tolenada; Siblings: Ian & Amy Tolenada, Ingrid & Matt Meyer, and Iris Tolenada; Countless Cousins, Titas, Titos, Lolos & Lolas

Jay is met in Heaven by his: Great Grandmother: Maria Belen, Paternal Grandparents: Moises & Maura Tolenada,  Maternal Grandparents: Neftaly & Herminia Gomora, Maternal Uncle: Alex Gomora, Father-in-law: Richard Tams
