Greg D. Thorpe
Greg D Thorpe, passed in the early morning hours of January 1, 2025, of complications of Alzheimer’s.
Born, May 18, 1947, to Cecil and Zona Thorpe in Boise, Idaho. He attended Borah High School graduating with the Class of 1965. He was in the Army from 1966 to 1968.
Greg was married to Peggy Fox from 1970 to 1977 and had a son, Jon. Greg married Penny Syme in 1985 and had a son Thomas.
Greg loved camping, fishing, hunting, and his 6 grandkids. Greg was a history enthusiast and read constantly, specifically, anything about the Civil War, WW 1 and WW 2. Greg was like a walking encyclopedia of information. He absorbed everything he read. You did not want to play Trivia with the man unless you enjoyed losing. He knew all the answers and was a master at crossword puzzles.
Greg was survived by his wife Penny, two sons Jon Thorpe (Andie) and Thomas Thorpe (Janet), 5 grandchildren Megan, Cody, Jolie, Cooper and Micheal and his brother Tom Thorpe (Maria).
Greg is preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Zona Thorpe, Brothers, Brett and Steven and his oldest grandson Jordan.
There will be a Military Honors Ceremony at the Veterans Cemetery. 10100 Horseshoe Bend Rd. Boise, Idaho 83714, Friday, February 7, 2025, at 2:00 pm. A gathering will take place in the clubhouse of the Boise RV Park, 7801 W Lemhi Street, Ste 1, Boise, Idaho starting around 3:30 pm.
We would like to thank the staff at Ashley Manor Highmont and the nurses and staff of White Oak Hospice. We’d like Heather Conber to know how much she means to us for her care of Greg from the beginning at Ashley Manor.
