Gilbert Wayne Callister passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026, in Eagle, Idaho, with his beloved wife by his side. He was born August 15, 1938, in Salt Lake City, Utah, and lived a life marked by devotion to his family, his faith, and those he served.
Wayne faithfully served his country in the United States Air Force. He was also deeply devoted to his faith and served for many years in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Throughout his life he served as a bishop, counselor in the bishopric, ward clerk, stake finance clerk, temple worker, and with the Young Men’s organization, touching many lives through his service and leadership.
Wayne graduated from the College of Idaho with a degree in Accounting, and later earned his Master’s degree in Accounting from Brigham Young University, becoming a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). He began his career with Deloitte & Touche, where he later served as a partner. He later founded Callister & Associates, where he continued his work advising and helping others throughout his professional life.
Wayne will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his strength of character, his faith, and the lasting impact he made on those around him.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Wiley and Ruth Callister; his sister, Beth Callister; his son, Calen Callister; his daughter, Carin Callister Decker; as well as several half-brothers and half-sisters, and his birth parents.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Lora Callister, who stood faithfully by his side through life’s many seasons. He also leaves behind his loving children, grandchildren, extended family members, and many friends who will cherish his memory.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 3, 2026, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 5530 W. Venetian Dr., Eagle, Idaho 83616. A visitation will be held from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m., with funeral services beginning at 11:00 a.m. A committal service will follow at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery with military honors.
