Germaine Frances Cox (Geri) was born Germaine Frances LaCombe on October 2, 1934 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was baptized in the Catholic Church at five months old. Germaine was the first of three children born to Elizabeth Alice Beading LaCombe and is survived by her younger sister, Carole.

When Germaine was six years old her family moved to Bremerton, Washington where her father, Frank LaCombe, worked as a plumber at the Naval shipyard. Germaine attended Star of the Sea Catholic School until 1946 when the family moved to China Lake, California. In 1957 she graduated from the University of San Francisco and became a nurse.

Germaine spent the majority of her life in California where she met and married the love of her life, James Cox, in 1957. They made their home in Burlingame, CA where they raised their four children, Steve, Jon, Amy and Bill. Jim and Geri built a beautiful life together and even found time to travel the world- as far as China.

Germaine was a selfless mother and well loved by her family. She is survived by her four children, 11 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all.

Later in life, Jim and Germaine retired to Boise, Idaho to be close to their sons Jon and Bill and their families. In the final decades of her long, beautiful life, Geri enjoyed gardening, knitting, sewing, playing bridge, hosting holiday meals, and spending time with her husband and family. She was a strong and caring woman, uncompromising in character and fortified in her beliefs.

Near the end of her life Germaine moved to Golden, Colorado to live with her daughter, Amy and her family. Germaine died peacefully at home at 90 years old, holding her daughter’s hand.

She will be forever loved, missed and fondly remembered.
