Geralyn Maurya Byrne (Pasta) was born October 4, 1961 in Phoenix, Arizona and transitioned onward on October 31, 2023. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother with a caring heart and welcoming personality. She left a mark on everyone she came in contact with. She was a beautiful person in every sense of the word and her continuous smile was beyond contagious. She will be forever missed.
Geri was the seventh of eight children born to James and Lucille Byrne. After moving to Idaho in 1965, she was raised in Idaho Falls and graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1979, where she met the love of her life, Richard Pasta. After graduation she moved to Boise and attended Boise State University, where she got her Associates degree in surgical technology. She started her career at St. Alphonsus in 1980 working in the operating room. She continued on to get her bachelors degree in nursing in 1986. Then in 2000 she transferred to the Trauma Team and worked nights saving countless lives with her amazing friends and colleagues. In 2007 she split her time on the Trauma team and began working part time at Treasure Valley Hospital, also working in the operating room. She worked every other week at each job in order to have weekends off with her family until she retired in 2021.
On July 17, 1982, she married her high school sweetheart, Rick Pasta, at St. Pauls Catholic Church in Boise. They welcomed their first born, Rachel, into the world March 3, 1991. Three years later they welcomed their second daughter Renae, on March 1, 1994. They moved into their forever home in Boise in 1996. In 1997, they purchased their cabin in Donnelly, where they spent almost every weekend enjoying the mountain air and activities; including skiing, rafting, fishing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing and four wheeling. Geri and Rick loved to travel. The summer trips to Lake Powell on the house boat were a family favorite. They did many trips across the West going to Jimmy Buffet concerts and took yearly trips to Hawaii, The Bahamas, or Mexico. They often visited their close friends in Phoenix, AZ or Geri’s family back East and California. One of their favorite vacations every year was the motorcycle trip around the Northwest. She loved hanging out by the pool in the back yard and reading her book while sitting in the sun. Geri loved to dance, if one of her songs was playing it was impossible for her to not move with the music. Her unique dance moves will forever play in our memories.
In 2019, Geri was blessed by becoming a grandmother to not only one, but two grandchildren. Everly Marie was born July 7 and Tracer Richard July 14. She enjoyed making memories with the two of them; blowing bubbles and playing in the fountain in the backyard. She loved swimming with them in the pool and making every visit with them special.
Geri is survived by her 5 sisters, 2 brothers, her husband, Rick; daughter Rachel and her husband Brandon; daughter Renae and her husband Josh; grandkids Tracer and Everly and step grandchildren Journey and Jameson.
She joined her granddaughter Malia Galea’i in heaven.
