Geneva “Genney” Pearl Jones, 83 of Boise, ID passed peacefully into the presence of her Heavenly Father Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at Edgewood Spring Creek Memory Care. She had battled colo-rectal cancer and Alzheimer’s.
Genney was born October 4, 1939 in Kansas City, MO to Thomas Alvin Bennett and Ruth Almira Kemball.
Early in her life her family spent time in various towns in Missouri, Idaho and Arizona. After her parents divorced, Genney and her mom, Ruth settled in Burley, Idaho, where she graduated from High School.
Genney was married to Richard Jones on November 18, 1960 in Burley, ID. They moved to Boise, Idaho where they adopted their oldest son, Steve in 1966 and their youngest son, Dave in 1967.
After living in New Ulm, MN from 1970-1976, the family moved back to Boise, ID where Genney would live the rest of her life. She was a devoted mom and wife and helped with the book-keeping with her husband’s dry-cleaning business. After 32 years of marriage, she and Richard divorced in 1992.
Genney returned to work in 1992, working at a wide variety of jobs, until she retired in 2002.
She lived for many years at Leisure Villa, before moving to Edgewood Spring Creek Memory Care in August 2021.
Genney loved all animals, but particularly cats! She always had at least one cat in her home and she loved when neighbors would bring their dogs by to visit. She loved being outdoors and especially enjoyed going for walks, where she could enjoy the fresh air, talking to God.
Genney is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Linda Jones and her grandsons, Cation and Adarsh Jones.
Genney was preceded in death by her dad, Thomas Alvin Bennett, her mom and step-dad Ruth and Clarence Barney and her son, Dave “Davy” Jones.
