Gary Goodman
Gary Goodman, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and esteemed community member, passed away on August 17, 2024, at the age of 71. Born on August 6, 1953, Gary’s life was defined by his deep faith, love for family, his passion for music and sports, and his commitment to service.
Gary was the beloved husband of Ludell Goodman. Their partnership of 47 years was filled with love and adventure, culminating in their recent move to Meridian, Idaho. Together, they enjoyed many joyful moments and built a life rich in memories. Gary’s love for summer vacations in the Traverse City, Beulah and Frankfort areas of Michigan were well-known among his family and friends. These trips provided him with treasured memories and were a highlight of his life.
He was a devoted father to Dustin, Candice, Trevor, and Brianna, and a proud grandfather to Javier, Isabella, Gabriela, and Maribel. Gary’s greatest joy came from watching his grandchildren grow and thrive.
Gary dedicated over 40 years to his career at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital (Trinity Health) in Ann Arbor, where his hard work and dedication were deeply valued. After retiring, he and Ludell embraced their new chapter in Meridian, Idaho, cherishing the opportunity to be near their grandchildren.
Music played a significant role in Gary’s life. As a talented drummer, he performed with numerous bands for more than twenty years, spreading his passion for music and rhythm to those around him. His skill and fervor for drumming reflected his lively character. Additionally, he was an enthusiastic supporter of the University of Michigan football team and faithfully participated in softball with Ascione Produce for many years.
Gary was also a committed member of Rock Harbor Church, where he worked with passion and dedication. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, and he found great fulfillment in his role at the church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donna Teusch and William Goodman, and his son Dustin Goodman. He is survived by his wife Ludell Goodman in Meridian ID, two sisters, Karen (Dennis) Daniel and Gail Hofferle, two daughters, Candice (Kevin) Chambo of Michigan and Brianna (Josue) Tello of Idaho, and a son, Trevor Goodman of Michigan, and grandchildren, Javier, Isabella, Gabriela and Maribel, of Idaho, who will miss him dearly.
Gary Goodman will be remembered for his loving nature, his vibrant spirit, and his unwavering dedication to his family and faith. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on September 3 rd , 2024 at Bowman Funeral at 10254 W Carlton Bay Dr., Garden City, ID 83714, from 6 PM to 8 PM, and the Funeral Service is September 4 th , at RockHarbor Church at 6437 N Tree Haven Way, Meridian, ID 83646 starting at 11 AM (Live Streamed for those who can’t attend in person) with viewing prior starting at 10 AM. A celebration of life in Michigan will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to RockHarbor Church in Gary’s memory.
