Garry Anthony Boeger

Garry Anthony Boeger, 87 years old, passed away peacefully with family by his side on December 15, 2024.

Garry was born on March 11, 1937, in Martinez, California, to Tony and Sally Boeger. He spent his childhood, high school, and young adult years in Northern California. He graduated from Alhambra High School in 1955, where he was a standout track and football star.

In 1956, Garry married Joann Donaldson.  Their parents were best friends, and the two of them grew up hunting and fishing together. They welcomed two sons, Larry, in 1957 and Donald, in 1960.  Garry worked hard to provide for his family. He worked at Shell Oil for almost 20 years. In 1970, he started his own rotavating and grading business. Garry has always had a strong love for the Lord and his Christian Faith. He attended Concord Evangelical Free Church for 20 years.  He played a vital role sharing his faith with young people as a high school Sunday School Teacher.

In 1979, he and Joann moved to Oreana, Idaho.  They settled on the Old Hyde ranch.  Garry farmed and ranched in Oreana for many years.  He became an involved and valued member of this small community. He attended Knight Community Church and Valley Christian Fellowship, where he was a bible study teacher for the youth. He continued to be a role model for many young people throughout his life.  He worked as a carpenter for several companies, ending his career at Best Bath in Boise. Once he retired, he became an active member at Rimrock Senior Center in Grandview.

Garry was an avid hunter and fisherman.  He and Joann took their sons, several nephews, and friends on a trip of a lifetime to Alaska. He loved spending time outdoors. In 1995, he drew a once-in-a-lifetime California Big Horn Sheep tag. He harvested and made the Idaho record book, coming in 6th with a score of 155.  This is something he was very proud of. Later in life, he returned to Alaska with his youngest son, Don, where the two of them were able to make lifelong memories fishing the Alaskan shores.  He also enjoyed many deer hunting trips with his brother Jack and nephew Jackie.  He loved football and was able to attend several College of Idaho football games to watch his nephew Hank Boeger.

Garry’s passing was preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Sally Boeger, brother Robin Boeger, Joann Polk and son Donald Boeger. He is survived by his son, Larry Boeger; brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Froni Boeger; brother, Wayne Boeger; sister-in-law, Sue Boeger; daughter-in-law, Carmen Boeger; daughter-in-law, Monica Pelzl Stringer; grandchildren, Brandee and Ricky Brittell, Amanda and Beau Hamilton; and great-grandchildren Marlee and Aubree Hamilton and Charlee Brittell.
