Fred Barto (Bart) Allcott, 85, died at home on September 28, 2025. He was born on April 24, 1940, in Chamberlain, South Dakota, the son of Keith A. Allcott and Amy V. Hieb. He was delivered by his namesake, his grandfather, Dr. Fred Barto Allcott.

Bart spent his childhood in California and Idaho, and graduated from Caldwell High School in Idaho. He proudly served in the Army in Germany during the Berlin crisis, an experience that deepened his lifelong love for his country. He was grateful for his time in the Army, his Army buddies who meant the world to him, and for all of their adventures throughout Europe together.

Family was most important to Bart. He loved being a dad, grandfather, great grandfather & brother. He used to say he was a lucky man to have such a great family, but we were the lucky ones. Everyone loved to be around Bart. He was witty and quick and always had a joke to share or a story to tell. He’d have you laughing so hard tears would be streaming down your face, even as you tried to determine how much of the story was actually true. He made all things in life a fun game and adventure.

Bart had a passion for nature, wildlife, hunting and fishing. His hunting and fishing stories were legendary. He enjoyed golfing, gardening, working in his yard, reading, and storytelling. Bart gave us the gift of finding joy in the smallest details found in nature. He marveled at every animal, flower, or tree. His ability to notice beauty in simple things taught everyone around him to do the same.

He was good-natured and enjoyed the simple things in life: his first cup of coffee, reading the morning paper, an aspen tree blowing in the breeze. It was not unusual for him to suddenly break out in a happy little song at any given moment. His text messages would always bring a smile to your face and brighten your day, and quite often have you laughing out loud. He just had a way of making you feel special and loved.

He is survived by his daughters, Stephanie (Mark) Spicer, Amy (Darryn) Coburn and Amanda Ruffner. He is survived by his sister, Shirley Garrett and his brother Keith (Janet) Allcott. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Kaycee (Marcus) Slocum, Ashley (Brandon) Miraglia, Colton and Georgia Ruffner, great-grandchildren Chandler & Hudson Slocum, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Keith & Amy, brother Jerry Allcott, sister Phylys Burns and brothers-in-law, Bob Burns and Dan Garrett.

His final resting place will be at Canyon Hill Cemetery in Caldwell, Idaho.

Bart’s legacy lives on through the wisdom he shared, the laughter that filled our days with sunshine, and the memories we will cherish forever. Those who loved him will forever carry his humor, kindness, and spirit in our hearts
