Frances “Frankie” M. Kyle, 88, of Boise, passed away December 12, 2024.

Frances Marie Kyle was born in Boise, Idaho on December 12,1935 at Saint Alphonsus Hospital to Brazley and Alene Kyle. Her mother could not think of a name for her, so the Catholic Sisters suggested Frances, so Frances Marie it was.

She lived in Meridian, Idaho with all her family for 5 years, her favorite place was being at her grandmother Whitely’s playing with her sister Bonnie. The family then moved to Boise. Frances (Frankie) attended Washington Elementary, North Jr High and Boise High Schools (Go Braves). She would often take the bus to Meridian to spend time with her grandmother and sister.

Frances was always active in the Church youth groups at First Christian Church which later became University Christian. It was there that she met Pastor Don Smith and his wife Judy who became lifelong friends. When they moved to Oregon, Frances followed them there and stayed for several years taking care of their children and working at the hospital in Roseberg. Her mother Alene enjoyed going to visit her there. When she returned to Boise, she found a career at St. Luke’s Hospital operating the switchboard which she kept until retirement. She became known as the voice of the hospital by both patients and staff.

Frances and her mother loved to take short vacations all around the northwest and California visiting State Parks. She lived with and selflessly cared for her mother Alene until her death. She loved all her cats and dogs of which there were many. She was the founder of “Old Maid Aunt’s Day” and made sure we didn’t forget it. The problem was we weren’t quite sure what day it was exactly, only when she told us.

Frances’s favorite thing to do was spend time with her nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was a great overseer of all their lives blessing them with stories of the Bible. She would spend hours with her little congregation developing an ear to hear.

Jesus. She taught Sunday school in every church she attended being faithful to God’s holy call. She leaves us with a testimony of loving God and being a faithful follower. She will be greatly missed by us all. Life long friends, Fred and Shirley Leonard worked with Frances teaching the Whily Birds Sunday School class for many, many years.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Avista Assisted Living Center and Idaho Home Hospice for the wonderful care they gave to Frances at the end of her life.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Willowbrook Clubhouse in Willowbrook Village off Coffey St. in Garden City on Sunday, January 12, 2025, from 2pm until 5pm.

All are invited.
