Florene was born in a little house in Buhl, Idaho on January 10, 1936. Soon after, her family moved to Mountain Home, Idaho where she attended grade school through high school. After high school she lived with her grandma Carder in Boise, working for the phone company. While at a dance with friends at Mountain Home Air Force Base, she met and fell in love with her future husband, Bill Fierstos. Soon after, they got married at Mountain Home Air Force Base.

After Bill’s service in the military they settled in Columbus, Ohio, where they raised four children. Florene had active roles in the church and community, where they made many life-long friends. The family had many adventures traveling across the United States visiting relatives, sight-seeing, fishing, and enjoying the outdoors. Many summers were spent traveling to Mountain Home to visit family and spend time camping with them in the mountains. Eventually, they moved to Mountain Home, Idaho, where Florene enjoyed working at the Mountain Home Assessor’s Office. She especially liked taking walks and spending time at the cabin they built in Featherville. Bill’s job with Rockwell took them to Lancaster, California until retirement. They settled in Boise after retirement where they enjoyed many years together.

Florene enjoyed sewing, painting, and decorating. She was a huge fan of Bob Ross, and she took many classes learning how to paint with watercolor. She liked watching anything western with John Wayne. She enjoyed listening to country music, polka, and spending time with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed.

Florene is survived by her children Sandra Fierstos of Boise, Todd Fierstos of Nampa, Beth (Scott) Rairigh of Rupert, sisters Diane Dupont, and Vicki Wise, brothers Richard Garner, and Ron Garner, seven grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.
