Fanly Lim

Fanly Lim, age 88, passed away peacefully on September 21st, 2026, at St. Luke’s Meridian Medical Center, surrounded by her son and two daughters. She was a devoted wife, hard-working mother, and selfless grandmother. Her dedication to her family and tireless pursuit in building a stable future for them created a legacy that will last for generations beyond her lifetime. Her presence will always be missed.

Fanly was born June 26th, 1938, in the Sunwu, Guangdong Province, China. When she was 5 years old, she moved with her family to Hong Kong. Then in 1958 at 20 years old, she immigrated to the United States and stayed with her extended family in New York where she attended beauty school and became a beautician. This is also where she met her husband, Goon Lim. They got married in 1962 in Boise Idaho, the place they would call home for the next 64 years and the place they would raise their three children together. During her time in Boise, Fanly worked tirelessly to support her family. She had her own salon that she ran out of the basement of their home, and later in life she worked at St. Luke’s Boise Medical Center in the housekeeping department. She moved up the ranks and was eventually offered a position as a lead supervisor due to her hard work and dedication.

Fanly was always looking toward the future, but never for herself. She devoted everything to building a future for her children and grandchildren. She poured her time, money, and as many resources as she could find into her three children to ensure that they would have bright futures ahead of them and spare them the hardships of her own life. Then as she watched her children flourish, grow, and have children of their own, she turned her sights to taking care of her grandchildren. Whenever they came around, dinner was always waiting on the table for them, coupled with the occasional brief lecture about the importance of sound financial decisions.

She was a woman of few words, and her expressions were hard to read at times, but her actions always spoke louder than her words. She remembered the smallest things about a person and her thoughtfulness never failed to surprise people time and time again. Her attention to those she loved was truly special.

She will be greatly missed. May her memories be carried into the future by those who love her and may they cherish them forever.Fanly is survived by her children Michael Lim, Lena Hui, and Linda Hicks; and six grandchildren, to whom she dedicated her life. Her love will never leave us.
