Evelyn Edgley Nuffer, 85, passed away peacefully during the early morning hours of July17, 2025 in Nampa, Idaho. She was born to Phenoi H. and Ona Crockett Edgley on October25, 1939 in Preston, Idaho, the third of five children. During her teen years she was involved in dance, baton corps, choir, student government, and drama. She graduated from BYU with a BA in Family Sciences. While attending BYU she married her high school sweetheart,Stanton Smart Nuffer, on September 8, 1960 in the Salt Lake City Temple.
Evelyn and Stanton welcomed five children to their family. Between Stanton working for the Bureau of Public Roads and attending graduate school, they moved over 20 times before building their house on Allamar Drive in Boise in 1967. There they raised their children with many great friends in the neighborhood and in the 20th Ward LDS congregation.
Evelyn’s greatest joys have been her family (especially grandchildren), her relationshipswith friends, and the close bond she shared with her siblings and in-laws.
She spent much of her life serving in many capacities in the Church of Jesus Christ ofLatter-day Saints; mostly working with the Young Women and in the Relief Society women’s organizations. She felt the call to trust in the Lord and to serve those around her. She found much guidance and solace in the scriptures especially when she lost her beloved Stanton in 1991.
Evelyn is survived by her children Michael (Heidi) Neuffer, Brian (Trudy) Neuffer, Andrea (Ben) Godfrey, Barbara (Eric) Dittman, Bradley (Kimberly) Nuffer, her brother Richard, and her sister Kathryn Fellows. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Stanton, and her sisters Lenona Hawkes and Marcia Packer.
The family would especially like to thank the staff of Park Place Assisted Living for their kind and compassionate care during Evelyn’s final days.
