Evelyn Jeanne Hansen-Sala/Beaver/Harvey, passed away peacefully on 8 June 2024, at the age of 100 plus 4 months, in Nampa, Idaho. She is lovingly remembered by her family and friends.
Evelyn Jeanne Hansen was born 1 February 1924 in Idana, Kansas to Herman Hansen and Marian Gertrude Long of Beloit, Kansas. She was always known by the name of Jeanne.
Jeanne had a strong sense of family and work ethics, instilled in her by her grandparents who raised Jeanne, her younger sister and brother.
Jeanne grew up as a child who loved to read and learn.
After graduating from Redmond Oregon High School, Jeanne met and married Harry Sala, a co-worker at the Tite Knot Pine Lumber Mill. Married in 1949, they raised a family of 8 children.
Jeanne was baptized as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in 1951. After her baptism, she discovered Family History, and it was a love for the rest of her life.
In 1968, Jeanne graduated with her Elementary Education degree from Southern Oregon College in Ashland, OR. She started teaching in Bend, Oregon. She never stopped teaching as she served in a vast number of Church callings and in the communities where she lived.
After Harry passed away in 1969, Jeanne was married two more times.
Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents; her 3 husbands: Harry Sala (1949-1969), Troy Beaver (1976-1991), John Harvey (1998-2010); sister, Marilee Hansen-Bowlsby/Woods(1925-1999); son, David Sala (1943-1967); son, Lawrence Sala, passed the same day as Jeanne (1946-2024); grandson, Jared Barney(1983-1992); son-in-law, McLoyd (Olivia) Barney(1944-2018).
Jeanne’s surviving family include: Brother, Richard Hansen, Emmett, ID; Children: Marianne Olivia(McLoyd) Barney, Las Vegas, NV; Catherine (Craig) Bigelow, Englewood, CO; Diane (John) Frasso, Kennewick, WA; Bennett (Kathy) Sala, Redmond, OR; Richard Sala, Landers, CA; Gloria (Eric) Stokes, Middleton, ID; 14 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Her legacy to her eight children and all her posterity was her love for Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, her testimony through the Holy Ghost, her love of family and Family History work, and her desire to help her family recognize that true happiness comes only through our Savior, Jesus Christ and our living His commandments.
A funeral service will be held on June 25, 2024 at 11:00 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 18463 Northside Blvd Nampa, Idaho with a visitation held one hour prior to the service. A committal service will follow services at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery.
