Obituary

Boise, Idaho - Esther Anne Giesler Kevan, 91 of Boise passed away April 16 surrounded by her family who loved her deeply.
Esther was born on September 16, 1930, in Chinook, Montana, daughter of William D. and Florence Simon. She attended school in Chinook and then moved with her parents, sister Beverly and brother Bill, to Idaho during the Depression. She helped her dad by working in the fields on the family farm on Camas Prairie which she always enjoyed and especially looked forward to noon when her mother would bring a large homemade lunch for all the farmhands to enjoy. She attended school at Wendell, Elk Creek and Camas County and graduated from Camas County High School in 1948. She earned her bachelor's and master's degree from the University of Idaho.

Esther was the mother of five children raised on the Prairie in which she invested generous love, grit, wit, and a fun sense of humor. She set a great example by investing in her relationships with family, friends, and her students with joy, always making them her priority. She taught school at Camas County Elementary School for 33 years and is remembered by many students as their favorite.

Esther was married to Bob Kevan in 1984. They lived in Boise where they lived a fulfilling life of retirement which included many family gatherings, especially the annual family Christmas Party always culminating in singing Christmas songs and the family's traditional song, "Daddy Sang Bass". The annual family camping trip to Redfish Lake was also her highlight as long as she got to stay at the lodge.

Music was an inspiration to Esther; learning to play the accordion, cello, organ and piano. She enjoyed playing piano for school graduations and events, church, and accompanied many soloists. She was also a challenge to beat in Scrabble and completed thousands of crossword puzzles. She was an excellent seamstress and made beautiful quilts.

Esther is survived by her five children, Rick Giesler (Janene), Christie Giesler Garcia, Brent Giesler (Carrie), Becci Lange (Doug) and Suzy Heath (Ron), brother Bill (W.A. Simon), 15 grandchildren, and numerous dear great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Esther was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Kevan, sister, Beverly, three nephews, Jimmy, Billy and David, and two great- granddaughters, Sawyer and Margot. She will be missed greatly by her family and friends.

Memorial service will be held at Cloverdale Church of God, 3755 South Cloverdale Road, Boise April 20th at 1:30 p.m.
Donations in honor of Esther can be sent to the Rising Stars Therapeutic Riding Center, a non-profit organization offering horseback activities for children and adults with disabilities.
