Ervin “Erv” Lynn Brice, 82, passed away in his wife’s arms at his home on March 28, 2025.

Born on January 23, 1943, in Boise, Idaho, to Emmett and Helen Wilson Brice, Erv grew up with his two brothers, spending much of his childhood traveling across Idaho and Oregon as his parents worked as farmers and sheep shearers.

Erv spent most of his career as a television technician, a job that took him into countless homes, where he quickly made friends with everyone he met. He had a knack for fixing things and was always willing to tinker with mechanical projects. Even after retiring, he continued working—driving trucks and helping with various jobs for his brother and nephew’s construction company—remaining active in the industry well into his 70s.

In 1962, Erv married Joan Pryor and welcomed his daughter, Patricia “Patti”, into the world. He cherished his role as a father. One of the hardest days of his life was watching his daughter leave with her mother when they separated. Not long after, his brother and sister-in-law introduced him to a young woman named Nelda Platt, who had been their babysitter. The two quickly formed a connection, and after nearly a decade of dating, they decided the time was right and married in June of 1982. Together, they built a life filled with adventure, camping, and road trips—especially to the Oregon Coast. They made their home in Meridian, Idaho, where they lived together for over 40 years.

Erv had a passion for connecting with people, always ready to strike up a conversation. He loved vehicles of all kinds, from Model Ts to motorcycles, but he held a special fondness for his 1956 Chevy pickup. He enjoyed long country drives, fishing, and tending to his garden—especially his carefully selected tomatoes. A talented cook, he was known for his Dutch oven cinnamon rolls and sourdough pancake breakfasts. In the summer, he could often be found riding his lawn mower, keeping his yard in perfect shape. Over the years, he and Nelda also shared their home with their beloved cats.

Erv was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and enjoyed fellowshipping with other members of his faith.

Erv is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Nelda; his daughter, Patti (Brian); his brother, Steve (Jan); his sister-in-law, Mary; and many cherished nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his baby brother, David Lee (who passed in infancy) and his brother, Herbert.

Erv’s warmth, kindness, and humor touched the lives of many, and he will be deeply missed.

His funeral will be held on Friday, April 4th at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 5501 N Meridian Rd in Meridian, Idaho. There will be a viewing from 10:00 to 10:45 AM, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place on Tuesday, April 8th, at 10:00 a.m. at Dry Creek Cemetery 9600 N.Hill Road Boise, Idaho .
