Funeral Service
Interment
Ernold Ray Goodwin “Ernie”, age 92, passed away at home in Eagle, Idaho; February 22, 2026. Born in Portland, Maine, December 6, 1933.
Ernold was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be remembered most for his deep love for the people he loved. He lived with determination, warmth and quiet kind of grit that shaped everyone around him.
Ernold served in the Army from 1953 to 1955. He earned the National Defense Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was a light weapons instructor.
For more than 40 years, Ernold was a successful entrepreneur and business owner, building and leading Allstate/GES Appliances, headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona. He took pride in his work and in providing for his family and he carried a strong sense of responsibility in everything he did.
Ernold also gave his time and heart to his children as a coach for many sports and attending he daughter’s horse shows. He truly loved coaching their teams and the horses and being present in their lives. In many ways, that was where his joy shined – on the sidelines, encouraging, teaching, and supporting.
At his core, Ernold loved the cowboy lifestyle – his horses, his dogs, and the wide-open spirit of the West. As a child he dreamed of being a cowboy reading Louis L’Amour novels while recovering from severe childhood asthma. That early fight shaped him. He grew into a man who was strong, resilient and determined.
Throughout his life, Ernold overcame several serious illnesses and continued to live with remarkable discipline and strength. He ran 10K’s, lifted weights, and in his later years he still made it a point to walk every day. He kept moving forward.
Ernold’s faith journey was very important in his life. Committed to serving his church wherever he lived.
He was deeply loved and he leaves a legacy of love and strength in those who carry his name and his memory.
Ernold is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Linda K Goodwin; his children Debra Jean Goodwin and her wife Lynda Gibson-Goodwin, Ronald Ray Goodwin and his wife Melissa Ann Goodwin and Lori Lynne Goodwin-Waite; and grandchildren Megan May Goodwin, Waverley Christina Walker and her husband Quinn Walker and Robert Goodwin Simpson.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Donald Goodwin, Ronald Goodwin and his sister Janice Goodwin, as well as his parents LeRoy Goodwin and Patricia Goodwin.
The family is grateful for the love, prayers, and support during this time. Ernold will be deeply missed by his family and those who knew him.
