Emmett Frank Ward

Nov 27, 1930 — Jul 28, 2026

Boise

Emmett Frank Ward, 95, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, July 28, 2026.

Born on November 27, 1930, in Boise, Idaho, to Frank and Nettie (Shaul) Ward, Emmett grew up with the quiet resilience and steady work ethic that would define him throughout his life. On June 20, 1954, he married Barbara Compton, the love of his life. Together they shared 50 years until Barbara’s death—raising six children and building a home in Boise.

Emmett served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He later owned and operated General Appliance Service from 1962 until his retirement. His work was honest, reliable, and respected—reflecting the integrity and character of the man behind it.

In his later years, Emmett never slowed down. He remained active until shortly before his passing, tending to the yard he cherished. He irrigated faithfully, cared for his rose bushes with pride, and continually re‑leveled his gravel driveway—a familiar routine that brought him purpose, satisfaction, and a sense of independence.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great‑grandfather—always present, always steady, always there when he was needed. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the neighbors who waved, visited, checked in, and quietly watched over Emmett through the years. Because of their kindness, he was able to remain in the home he cherished for 63 years, living out his wishes with dignity, comfort, and familiarity.

Emmett is survived by his children: Douglas (Nancy) Ward, Shari (Dwight) Baker, Scot (Kalynn) Ward, Richard (Julie) Ward, Suzanne (Thomas) Ashmead, and Linda (Jay) Belveal; 12 grandchildren; and 19 great‑grandchildren.
